Teaching Experience

2007 - Present
Assistant Professor of Communication and Media, Clarkson University
I was hired to help design and teach the newly created major: Digital Arts and Sciences. The major is a combination of courses from both the Computer Science curriculum and the Communication and Media curriculum.

2006 – Present
Instructor of Record, 104: Introduction to Three-Dimensional Design, University of Wisconsin - Madison
Introduced the foundations of three-dimensional forms to students through teaching design and execution of both ideas and concepts. Incorporated research and critical understanding of art history and visual culture into the creation process.  Aside from traditional object making, provided various strategies of display, including site-specificity, public art, interactivity, and performance.  Stressed the importance of documentation & self promotion through the requirement of self-created personal websites as final project.  Facilitated class critiques with student moderators.  Designed the syllabus, met individually with students, recorded attendance, and assigned final grades.

2005 – 2006
Instructor of Record, 108 & 208:  Modern to Contemporary Art Survey, University of Wisconsin -Madison
108 & 208 were created to provide an artist perspective on the Modern Art Era into the Contemporary and beyond.  As instructor, led discussions and lectured in course which was taken by art majors & non-majors.  Students were encouraged to implement what they learned from these courses in their current studio art courses.  Evaluated student performance in critical essays, exams and class participation.  Encouraged students to make connections between trends in the art world and the culture they live.   Incorporated peer-review and peer-editing into instruction.  Taught students video editing skills, which resulted in an art student film festival.  Designed the syllabus.  Held office hours, recorded attendance, and assigned final grades.

2001 – 2003
Teaching Assistant, Advanced Sculpture: Bronze Casting, St. Olaf College
Assisted professor in demos, helping individual students, and pours.  Provided help in technical and conceptual problems the students were having.  Served as guest critic on critique days.
