Dave Beck is a practicing 3D digital artist and sculptor, living in Wisconsin.  He is the recipient of the 2010 International Science & Engineering Visualization Challenge Award, given by the National Science Foundation.  Beck's artwork has been featured in publications such as the New York TimesSculpture Magazine, National Geographic, the journal Science, and the book GameScenes: Art in the Age of Videogames.  

He has shown his work in exhibitions across the country, including Miami, Chicago, Philadelphia, LA, Minneapolis, Boston, Milwaukee, and San Diego. In 2009, Beck was a distinguished fellow at Nebraska’s Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts.  The Science Museum of Minnesota chose him as a distinguished fellow and visiting artist for the summer of 2010. In the past two years he had solo exhibitions at Wisconsin’s Overture Center for the Performing Arts, the State University of New York’s Gibson Gallery, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s SARUP Gallery. His work has been reviewed in international publications focusing on contemporary art, including Sculpture Magazine and DailyServing. In the summer of 2012, he will be presenting a solo exhibition of his work at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center, while he is in residence as a Board of Director's Award Fellow.

Beck currently teaches at the University of Wisconsin - Stout, in the School of Art and Design. From 2007-2011, he was employed by Clarkson University, where he directed the Digital Arts & Sciences Program, which received the "2010 Innovative Program Award" from the International Digital Media and Arts Association (iDMAa).  He has also taught sculpture and contemporary art history at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
